Suns’ Devin Booker named West’s Player of the Week for 3rd time

Mar 28, 2022, 12:52 PM | Updated: 3:33 pm

Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker was named Western Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

It is the third time Boker has won the award this season, becoming the second player in his conference to achieve that, joining Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns. Chicago Bulls guard DeMar DeRozan hit that number in the Eastern Conference while Boston Celtics wing Jayson Tatum earning the accolade with Booker on Monday was Tatum’s third as well this year.

Booker averaged 37.3 points and 6.3 assists per game while shooting 58.1% from the field. Phoenix had a 3-0 record during the stretch, defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets and Philadelphia 76ers. Booker scored a season-high 49 points in Denver on Wednesday.

The last week for Booker continues his statistical uptick in the second half of the season, a common occurrence across the 25-year-old’s previous six seasons.

Since Jan. 14, Booker across his last 31 games is posting 29.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 2.2 turnovers and 1.4 steals per game with a field goal percentage of 48.9%.

Suns center Deandre Ayton was a nominee for Western Conference Player of the Week as well.
