After a few days of wrangling, the rumored deal between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Boston Red Sox is now complete.

The D-backs have traded left-handed pitcher Wade Miley to Boston in exchange for pitchers Rubby De La Rosa and Allen Webster and minor-league infielder Raymel Flores.

“As we looked at our rotation, we wanted to — not that Wade is old, he’s (28) years old — we’re still getting younger and we, organizationally, haven’t had any real power arms in our organization since Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling,” general manager Dave Stewart said. “So this gave us an opportunity to put two power arms in our rotation, which kind of breaks up what we had.”

Miley, 28, was a stalwart in the Arizona rotation for the last three seasons. In 2014, he went 8-12 with a 4.34 ERA in 33 starts. He struck out 183 batters while walking 75 in 201.1 innings.

Over parts of four seasons, Miley posted a 38-35 mark with a 3.79 ERA. He was an All-Star in 2012, when he won 16 games. He also finished second in the National League Rookie of the Year voting that season.

De La Rosa, 25, is a native of the Dominican Republic who made 18 starts for the Red Sox in 2014. The right-hander went 4-8 with a 4.43 ERA, with 74 strikeouts and 35 walks in 101.2 innings. He started in the Dodgers organization, but was traded to Boston after the 2012 season to complete a trade that sent Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford and Nick Punto to Los Angeles.

“With Rubby De La Rosa we’re 95-100 (mph) — that’s easy to like,” Stewart said. “He’s got what you call a power changeup — he’s got a changeup you can throw three times to a hitter and they swing through it.”

Webster, 24, made 11 starts for the Red Sox last season, posting a 5-3 record and a 5.03 ERA. The right-hander struck out 36 and walked 28 in 59 innings.

Flores is a 20-year-old middle infield prospect who spent 2014 in Low-A ball with Lowell of the New York/Pennsylvania League. He batted .282 with a home run and 12 RBI in 61 ball games. Stewart classifies him as a “really, really nice middle infield prospect.”

The D-backs also designated left-handed pitcher Eury De la Rosa for assignment and in a separate deal, traded right-handed pitcher Zeke Spruill to Boston for right-handed pitcher Myles Smith.
