Arizona Cardinals players, front office members, cheerleaders and the mascot Big Red will be participating in the Summer Day of Service event on Saturday, July 16.

The initiative will focus on serving the homeless community at St. Vincent de Paul, House of Refuge and Save the Family.

From 11 a.m. to noon, Cardinals linebacker Dennis Gardeck and Nicole Bidwill will assist at St. Vincent de Paul’s newest shelter near Washington and 24th streets, according to a press release.

The shelter focuses on individualized care, nourishment and resources to those most in need.

Cardinals cheerleaders will then hand out fully loaded backpacks with supplies for children from noon to 1 p.m. at House of Refuge near Williams Field and Power roads.

House of Refuge has 20 acres in Mesa and over 80 homes that are rented to homeless families.

More team members will spend the morning painting and cleaning a two-bedroom apartment at Save The Family’s Mesas Housing from 9 a.m. to noon.

Save the Family gives more than 190 units of housing in Maricopa County for homeless and impoverished family.
