Report: Bettman to announce tentative sale
May 7, 2012, 6:14 PM
Monday is the biggest day in the history of the Phoenix
Coyotes.
The ‘Yotes play host to the Nashville Predators in Game 5
of
the Western Conference semifinals at Jobing.com Arena with
a
chance to clinch a berth in the franchise’s first-ever
conference final.
And, according to the Phoenix Business
Journal,
NHL
commissioner Gary Bettman is scheduled to be in Glendale
Monday to announce a tentative plan for the league to sell
the Coyotes to an ownership group headed by former San
Jose
Sharks CEO Greg Jamison.
The league has owned the team since 2009.
The non-profit Goldwater Institute, which threatened a
lawsuit when a tentative deal with Matthew Hulsizer was
being considered last season, issued a brief statement on
Monday.
We are looking forward to reviewing the
details of the deal when they are made public. We hope the
new deal complies with the law and protects taxpayers by
requiring the private parties involved to bear any related
costs.
