The Arizona Cardinals placed starting right guard Will Hernandez on injured reserve Wednesday. In addition, the team claimed offensive lineman Wyatt Davis off waivers from the New Orleans Saints.
Hernandez exited Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks due to a chest injury and did not return to the game. He was replaced by rookie lineman Lecitus Smith.
Injuries have been a huge problem for the Cardinals, specifically on the offensive line.
While starting left tackle D.J. Humphries returned last week, Hernandez will join starting left guard Justin Pugh on injured reserve. At center, Billy Price has had snap issues while filling in for starting center Rodney Hudson, who has been out since Week 5.
Davis, 23, was a third-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Ohio State by the Minnesota Vikings. In his rookie season, he played in seven games (zero starts) and then was cut before the start of the 2022 season the following year. After spending a week on the New York Giants’ practice squad, Davis was signed by the Saints in early September.
Davis played in one game for the Saints and two total snaps.
