The National Hockey League has suspended Phoenix Coyotes center Martin Hanzal for two games without pay for charging Edmonton Oilers defenseman Jeff Petry Saturday at Jobing.com Arena.
Hanzal was penalized on the play, and is considered a repeat offender, meaning the 26-year-old will forfeit $75,609.76 in salary.
Hanzal will miss two home games — Tuesday night vs. the Los Angeles Kings and Thursday against the Nashville Predators. He has five goals, six assists and 19 penalty minutes in 12 games this season.
