Arizona football lands New Mexico’s leading WR Luke Wysong in transfer portal

Arizona football landed New Mexico wide receiver Luke Wysong in the transfer portal, Wysong announced on social media.

Wysong led the Lobos with 69 catches for 840 receiving yards in 2024 as a redshirt junior. He caught eight passes for 129 yards and a touchdown against the Wildcats in Tucson on Aug. 31, a 61-39 Arizona win.

In four collegiate seasons, Wysong has caught 134 passes for 1,458 yards.

Wysong primarily played in the slot for New Mexico this season but also lined up outside and in the backfield. He has experience returning both kickoffs and punts, giving Arizona some versatility.

The 5-foot-10, 184-pound receiver is a New Mexico native and Cleveland High School alum, where he earned the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year award in 2020-21.

247 Sports rated him as a three-star transfer recruit.

The Wildcats add a playmaker one day after top wide receiver and Biletnikoff finalist Tetairoa McMillan declared for the NFL Draft. McMillan is expected to be an early Day 1 pick.

Wildcats tight end Dorian Thomas, wide receiver Reymello Murphy and wide receiver A.J. Jones have each entered the transfer portal.

A new voice will be running the offense, as Arizona hired Seth Doege as its next offensive coordinator. Doege said on Friday he plans to run a flexible offense, and quarterback Noah Fifita is his top priority.
