The New Orleans Pelicans are the latest team to enter into a list of possible suitors for Phoenix Suns forward Markieff Morris.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported Tuesday that the Suns and Pelicans have had preliminary contact about a potential trade.

The Pelicans have significant interest in pairing Morris with Anthony Davis.

According to the report, the Pelicans have had a willingness to part with forward Ryan Anderson as part of a potential deal for Morris, especially if Anderson doesn’t show interest in signing a new contract with the Pelicans.

The 27-year-old Anderson is averaging 18 points and seven rebounds per game. He is set to become a free agent in July, whereas Morris signed a four-year, $32 million contract extension a year ago.

Morris, along with his brother Marcus have a pending court case steaming from felony aggravated assault charges from a January incident at a recreation center.

The Suns traded Marcus to the Detroit Pistons in July as part of a salary dump in an effort to sign free agent LaMarcus Aldridge. The trade didn’t sit well with either of the brothers and Markieff has publicly stated his discontent over the trade and stated he wanted out of Phoenix.

Besides the Pelicans, the Houston Rockets have recently shown interest in obtaining Morris.

Through 18 games this year, Morris has averaged 11.4 points per game and played only seven minutes in Monday’s win over the Chicago Bulls.
