Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt was the lone Arizona player named to the 2016 All-Star roster as a reserve on Tuesday, but teammate Jake Lamb is still in the mix to become a first-time participant.
Lamb is one of five National League players who made the Final Vote Ballot.
Fans will be able to vote for the D-backs third baseman to be the final addition — not including any injury replacements — to the roster, and Lamb will face competition from the Giants’ Brandon Belt, the Brewers’ Ryan Braun, the Pirates’ Starling Marte and Rockies rookie Trevor Story.
“It’s cool,” Lamb said during the D-backs’ FOX Sports Arizona broadcast Tuesday night. “I don’t really like the attention that much but I want to be an All-Star. So I’ll do what it takes.
“I definitely put in a lot of work this offseason, this swing,” he added. “It’s just being in this year for my second year now, seeing all these pitchers, it’s kind of a confidence thing now.”
The voting ends Friday at 1 p.m. MST.

Three of six ESPN analysts predicted Lamb as their last man cut from the All-Star game.
Lamb ranks second in the majors with a .609 slugging percentage, trailing only the Red Sox’s David Ortiz, and is tied for second with six triples on the season as of Tuesday. The D-back is also sixth in on-base plus slugging percentage and tied for ninth with 59 RBI this season.
“I actually went to the Home Run Derby, saw Gonzo win it.”
