Former Phoenix Suns head coach Alvin Gentry is heading to Los Angeles to be part of Doc Rivers’ coaching staff with the Clippers.
He will hold the title of ‘associate head coach,’ and according to Arizona Sports 620’s John Gambadoro chose the Clippers over the Lakers, where he would have been reunited with former Suns head coach Mike D’Antoni.
Gentry amassed a record of 158-144 in less than five full seasons as the Suns’ coach. His best season came in 2009-10, when he guided the club to 54 wins and a spot in the Western Conference Finals.
