The Arizona Cardinals, appearing to have missed out on top choices Andy Reid and Mike McCoy, have apparently added another name to their list of head coaching candidates.

According to NFL.com insider Ian Rapoport, the team has interest in Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell.

Bevell would be just the latest in a growing list of offensive-minded coaches the Cardinals are looking at to replace the fired Ken Whisenhunt.

Bevell, 42, has been Seattle's offensive coordinator for the last two seasons. Prior to heading northwest he held the same position with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Seahawks have been an excellent running team in Bevell's two seasons, and this past year made it to the second round of the playoffs with rookie quarterback Russell Wilson under center.

Bevell, who is a 1988 graduate of Chaparral High School in the Valley, has already interviewed with the Chicago Bears, and may be chatting with the Jacksonville Jaguars as well.

Thus far the Cardinals have spoken with the aforementioned McCoy, as well as Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden and Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley, as well as current Cardinals defensive coordinator Ray Horton.

    this guy would be a solid hire. wouldnt be upset w/ him at all, honestly I like him better then McCoy or Reid...... that said, still would prefer Horton.

    The people who put the talent together in MIN and SEA should be given credit for Bevell's emerging success. Those are the people the Cards should be hiring! Its not too hard to get to the playoffs with defenses like MIN and SEA or guys on offense like AP, Harvin, Shaincoe, Favre, Rice (was in MIN too), Lynch, Wilson, Miller, Robinson, and Baldwin. Both O Lines are outstanding too. Can he rebuild and/or develop? I mean, you have to give him somewhat credit for Wilson and Tavarus Jackson's short live progressions.

    Its easy to say that because those players have been successful. Who is to say we dont have guys just as talented as them but they have not been utilized correctly. If everyone stayed healthy and we had Fitz, Floyd, Roberts, Housler, and Ryan Williams as our skill position with LSH in a sproles type role - you wouldnt say that we could be among the most dynamic teams in the league?

    But there are still a few teams more attractive than AZ because they're offensive situations are in a better position. And how does Ray Horton feel about this? I'm surprised no one else has hired him. I wonder if he and Bidwill have made some kind of agreement that keeps him here another year as DC if they hire the offensive minded coach they want to be in charge of the offense? Im kind of disappointed in Ownership and Management. It appears that they are butchering this HC hire. Let's see what happens....

    though perhaps not in the way you might mean. I expect as the news of the great deal Keim got gets around it ought to encourage quite a few people to try to tap into the deep pockets of our fine owners also.

    Is there a plan to keep him more than one year? Probably not, but it seems that we are not going to get the OC we want unless we make them a HC. I think we need to trust keim and Horton to bring in the right OC and QB. My guess is that just about any young OC with a great QB like wilson or manning would be a hot name. Why be the suckers making the next Whiz - we can create a hot name OC when we get the right QB to make him look good.

    The more they try and manipulate everything the worse they make it. Horton is probably feeling like chopped liver about now.

    Reid went to the Cheifs because he has Total control and a 1st round pick. McCoy went to the Chargers because they have a pretty good QB & team. These guys are supposed to be good coaches that can turn a team around .... BUT ... They are going where they think they might have success. The guy that accepts or undertakes the responsibility of being the Cardinals HC is who I would like to see. He will know what the challenge is and what has to be done.
