The Phoenix Suns announced they have finalized a trade that will send Luis Scola to the Indiana Pacers for center Miles Plumlee, swingman Gerald Green and a 2014 draft pick on Saturday afternoon.

“The trade is consistent with our stated plan to continue to acquire young assets,” Suns President of Basketball Operations Lon Babby said in a press release.

Plumlee was drafted by the Pacers with the 26th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. He played in 14 games with Indiana last season.

The 6-11, 255-pounder excelled earlier this month with the Pacers summer league squad. He averaged 10 points and 9.5 rebounds while shooting 51.5 percent from the field in 27 minutes.

Green, who signed a three-year contract with the Pacers last offseason, had a down year in Indy. He averaged just seven points and 2.4 rebounds for the Pacers last season, despite shooting 31 percent from three-point range.

The 6-8, 210-pounder has averaged eight points and 2.3 rebounds in 272 games with Boston, Minnesota, Houston, Dallas, New Jersey and Indiana.

“We are excited to add Miles and Gerald to our young core group of players,” Suns General Manager Ryan McDonough said. “Miles was one of the best players in the Orlando Summer League, and Gerald’s scoring ability and athleticism will help us as we continue to build a team that plays an exciting, up tempo brand of basketball.”

Scola’s publicist, Juan Sebastia, in Argentina tweeted news of the impending trade late Friday night.

The Pacers had reportedly been in hot pursuit of Scola in recent weeks. The Suns, who continue to rebuild under McDonough, will also gain salary relief with this move.

The power forward was set to make 4.5 million in 2013-14.

Scola scored 12.8 points and 6.6 rebounds last season for the Suns. He has averaged 14.2 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in six NBA seasons.

The 33-year-old will be a nice addition to the Pacers, who were looking to bolster the depth of their bench after last year’s playoff run.

Prior to joining the Suns, Scola spent five seasons with the Houston Rockets.
