Phoenix Suns guard Brandon Knight has suffered a torn ACL and will likely miss the entire 2017-18 NBA season.
The Suns released the following statement on their website:
“Knight has sustained a torn ACL in his left knee and will undergo surgery, it was determined following an examination with Head Team Physician Dr. Tom Carter. The injury occurred last week while Knight was playing in his native South Florida. A timetable for his return will be determined at a later date, though he is expected to miss the 2017-18 season.”
Knight, 25, is coming off of his sixth season in the NBA, in which he played 54 games and averaged 11 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per night. He was shut down at the end of last season as the Suns partook in “strategic resting.”
Twitter users claimed to have witnessed the injury and tweeted out as early as July 19 that the guard may have hurt himself.
