Philly roasters raise $20,000 for local schools by selling Foles-gers coffee

A Philadelphia coffee roaster saw an easy pun and the Eagles’ run to the Super Bowl as a chance to make a quarterback-themed specialty blend of coffee.

So when the Eagles won Super Bowl LII, ReAnimator Coffee brought the Foles-gers blend back with a twist. One-hundred percent of the profits would go toward The Fund for the School District of Philadelphia.

On Monday, ReAnimator announced in an email to buyers that the special release had raised more than $20,000 in funds.

Of course, the blend is named after the Super Bowl MVP, Nick Foles, who took over for the injured Carson Wentz with three games left in the regular season and led the Eagles through the playoffs with six touchdowns to just one interception.

The Foles-gers Championship blend was 60 percent Guatemalan, 25 percent Peruvian and 15 percent Ethiopian coffee beans.

And, by the way, it apparently tastes like victory.

ReAnimator wasn’t the only one to use the Super Bowl as an avenue to help the public schools.

Federal Donuts’ profits from its “The Iggle” donuts went toward the fund, while offensive lineman Lane Johnson put Eagles underdog t-shirts on sale to raise proceeds for the public schools.
