The Arizona Coyotes announced Tuesday they had recalled goaltender Adin Hill on an emergency basis from the Tucson Roadrunners (AHL).

The move was made a day after the Coyotes played the Edmonton Oilers in a game that Antti Raanta, Arizona’s No. 1 goalie, was projected to start. Darcy Kuemper started instead. Per the Coyotes’ Dave Vest, coach Rick Tocchet said Raanta was experiencing tightness in pregame warm-ups, thus the late change.

Arizona went on to fall 4-3 in overtime.

Raanta has already missed significant time due to injury this season, appearing in just 39 of the Coyotes’ 65 games in 2017-18. He’s been one of the team’s greatest strengths when healthy, posting a .924 save percentage, good for ninth-best in the NHL.

Hill, 21, appeared in three games for Arizona earlier this season, earning an .880 save percentage and 3.75 goals against average. In 27 games with the Roadrunners this year, Hill has a .911 save percentage with a 2.41 goals against average and a 14-10 record.

The Coyotes’ next game is on Wednesday at Vancouver.
