Not too long ago, the Arizona Coyotes couldn’t buy a goal.

Now, they can’t stop scoring.

The Coyotes scored three goals in a four-minute span in the first period — including two in a minute — on Friday against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Even more impressive, a goal came on each the power play, at even strength and shorthanded.

The first goal came 13:07 into the period on the penalty kill courtesy of Brad Richardson.

It was Richardson’s third shorthanded goal of the season and the Coyotes’ seventh, an NHL best.

Three minutes later — at 15:57 — Brendan Perlini doubled the lead as he weaved through a host of Hurricanes defenders and scored on the power play.

Fifty-five seconds later, Nick Cousins pushed the lead to 3-0 with his first goal of the season.

The Coyotes, winners of four games in a row, had scored 27 goals in their past six games entering Friday’s game after scoring four in their first five games.

If they keep up the scoring prowess, they’ll continue to ascend up the Western Conference standings.
