What Devin Booker did to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night was by-the-book clutch.

Hitting two contested isolation jumpers in the final 30 seconds, the fourth-year guard led the Phoenix Suns to a 102-100 win at Talking Stick Resort Arena.

Frequent observers of the Suns have seen this before.

In February of 2017, he banked in a shot from the left wing to take a game against the Sacramento Kings. A month later, he hit a buzzer-beating, top-of-the-circle jumper over Wes Matthews of the Dallas Mavericks in a 100-98 win.

In November, he hit a pullup from near the coach’s box to force overtime against the Milwaukee Bucks.

He appears to be objectively clutch. Here are the clutch numbers behind his three-plus seasons on the Suns.

43%

Over his career, Booker has gone 6-for-14 (43 percent) with a three-point differential or less and the Suns ahead or behind in the final 10 seconds of the fourth quarter or overtime.

For reference, only two players who took more than five field goal attempts in the closing 10 seconds of one-possession fourth periods in 2017-18 shot better than 40 percent (Giannis Antetokounmpo, Blake Griffin). They, along with Damian Lillard (3-of-8), Russell Westbrook (4-of-12) and Will Barton (2-of-6) shot better than 30 percent on such plays.

66%

Clutch overtime shooting numbers weigh down Booker’s strong fourth quarters, where over his career he’s shot 6-of-11 (66 percent) in the final 10 seconds of games within a possession.

36

Of his 214 career games played, Booker has played in the final 10 seconds of a game within three points just 36 times in his career. The Suns have trailed or been tied in 29 of those games.

21

Booker has scored 21 points while on the court during such games. Considering that’s 36 games of the final 10 seconds, that’s 21 points in just six minutes of game action. Fifteen of those points came with Phoenix tied or behind.

6-of-7

Booker has added points by drawing fouls in such games, getting to the line and hitting all but one of his seven free throw attempts in one-possession situations within 10 seconds of the end of the fourth quarter or overtime.

38%

Extend the situation out to the final minute of close games, and the numbers aren’t as pretty. They’re still efficient considering the volume.

Booker has gone 13-of-34 (38 percent) inside the last 1:00 of one-possession fourth quarters and overtimes in his three-plus NBA seasons.

For context, only seven players who took at least 10 field goals in the last minute of such situations last season shot better than 40 percent from the field. In terms of volume clutch shot-takers, only four of 23 who took more than 10 attempts shot better than 40 percent.

1:3

Safe to say if Booker is in a close game, he wants to take the shot. In 45 combined fourth quarters and overtimes in which Booker was on the court in the final minute of a one-possession game, he has shot the ball 34 times. He’s recorded just one assist to three turnovers in those scenarios.
