The Arizona Diamondbacks announced the signing of free agent outfielder Adam Jones on Monday, and in a corresponding roster moved placed pitcher Silvino Bracho (torn UCL) on the 60-day injured list.

The deal is for $3 million with $2 million in incentives, according to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale.

The 13-year veteran, a four-time Gold Glove recipient and five-time All-Star, is a career .278 hitter with 266 home runs. The 33-year-old hit .281 with 15 home runs last season with the Baltimore Orioles.

According to 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s John Gambadoro, Jones may not necessarily be the everyday center fielder. He’s likely to play some corner outfield, and Ketel Marte will play middle infield as well as center field, Gambadoro said.

Marte started at second base last season for the D-backs but was in the process of transitioning to the center field spot with the absence of A.J. Pollock, who signed a free-agent deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers in the offseason.

Other D-backs outfielders include David Peralta, Steven Souza Jr. and Jarrod Dyson.

Jones began his MLB career in Seattle in 2006 and spent two seasons there before playing the last 11 seasons in Baltimore.

The signing was close to being done on Sunday, according to a report from The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal. The deal had been in place pending a physical, per MLB.com’s Steve Gilbert.
