Phoenix Coyotes, Pacific Division Champs!

Apr 8, 2012, 2:34 PM | Updated: 3:38 pm

The words ‘division champions’ has never been attached to the
name
Phoenix Coyotes.

In fact, they’ve never been pinned to the name Winnipeg Jets, either.

After a 4-1 win over the Minnesota Wild in Minneapolis Saturday
night, the two phrases are linked for the first time in the 32-year
NHL
history of the franchise.

When the Coyotes returned home to the Valley at around midnight
Sunday, a few hundred fans greeted the team charter to welcome
the
Pacific Division champions.

The ‘Yotes will head into the Stanley Cup Playoffs as the number-
three seed in the Western Conference, and will face the 6th-seeded
Chicago Blackhawks in the first round. Phoenix won three of the
four
games between the two teams this season.

The Coyotes are looking for their first playoff series win since the
1986-87 season.
