Sando: Cardinals likely to land Kevin Kolb

As the NFL lockout nears an end, so will the Arizona Cardinals quarterback controversy.

Arizona’s desire to improve at the quarterback is no secret. Kevin Kolb has been the most talked about player for the Cardinals and ESPN.com’s NFC West blogger Mike Sando believes Kolb will be playing in Glendale this fall.

“I tend to think it’ll be Arizona,” Sando said on Sports 620 KTAR’s Doug and Wolf when asked who will win the Kolb sweepstakes. “I think the price will be a bit lower than we’ve heard. I think Arizona will have a huge desire and he will be an upgrade for Arizona.”

Over the past few months, there has been very little football news to talk about meaning that every little bit of news has been magnified and overblown.

Sando believes Kolb has been over-hyped because of the lack of actual player movement.

He is not a “can’t miss” guy or else he would not be available Sando said. If Kolb was a “can’t miss” type of player, he would be in Philadelphia for the next seven seasons as those type of players are rarely available for trades.

While Kolb may be over hyped, he still has a lot of talent and potential, yet Sando thinks Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton may be the best fit for the Cardinals.

“He’s the perfect Whiz quarterback to me,” Sando said. “I just look at [him as] a guy who is continually underestimated. He’s never appreciated.”

Although Sando is not the first to claim that Orton may be a better fit than Kolb, it is hard to imagine a deal for Orton pleasing the fans as much as a deal for Kolb would.
