Before Arizona State starts the 2017 football season, crews will be putting the finishing touches on the Student-Athlete Facility so it’s ready when the season kicks off.
This is phase III of the renovations. Phase II was completed prior to the 2016 season.
Isaac Manning, the Sun Devil Stadium Project Representative, said the biggest change will be the relocation of the Tillman tunnel from the south end zone to the north end zone where the facility is.
Another difference is that ASU alumni will line the tunnel and cheer on the Sun Devils when they run onto the field.
The facility will also boast a revamped locker room which will include a players’ lounge and a nutrition bar.
Additionally, there will be a new training room and a new weight room. There will be a new recruiting room located on the first floor and an updated auditorium.
One of the most interesting details is the new scoreboard that will be on top of the facility. It will be 180 feet wide and 60 feet tall, which just so happens to be exactly one square foot larger than the scoreboard at the University of Arizona.
Lastly, the facility will have a new office for ASU Football head coach Todd Graham that has a view of the field.
