Arizona Cardinals kicker Chandler Catanzaro was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week Wednesday.
The undrafted rookie from Clemson booted three field goals (33, 49 and 33 yards) in the Cardinals’ 30-20 win over the Washington Redskins Sunday at University of Phoenix Stadium.
So far this season, Catanzaro has connected on all 14 of his field goal attempts and all eight of his extra points. His 50 points rank ninth in the league, and first among NFL rookies.
Catanzaro is the first Cardinals rookie to win the special teams honor since Patrick Peterson won it in Week 12 of the 2011 season, and he’s the 15th Arizona player to garner the award. Ted Ginn, Jr. won the same honor in Week 2.
