Notre Dame quarterback DeShone Kizer will work out for the Arizona Cardinals on Wednesday, just more than a week after the team reportedly met with the 6-foot-4 signal-caller, reports ESPN’s Dianna Russini.

A guest of Doug and Wolf on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Wednesday morning, Cardinals GM Steve Keim played coy when asked about Kizer.

“It’s obviously not our practice to confirm or deny those things,” he said.

Pressed on the reported Kizer workout later in the interview, the GM said, “I cannot confirm or deny that allegation.”

So there’s that.

Kizer passed for 2,925 yards and 26 touchdowns through the air with eight more rushing scores, and he’s one of several quarterback prospects Arizona is taking a close look at prior to the NFL Draft.

Kizer is one quarterback who Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians believed could contribute sooner rather than later, reported Arizona Sports 98.7 FM’s John Gambadoro.

Arizona, which owns the 13th overall pick, has also taken hard looks at Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson, who the team met with last Wednesday, and Texas Tech’s Patrick Mahomes.

The Cardinals, of course, are searching for the successor under center to Carson Palmer, but it isn’t a certainty they use their first-round pick on a quarterback. Arians and general manager Steve Keim believe the draft is also deep at the cornerback and safety positions, two more immediate needs for the team heading into 2017.
