David Peralta ejected after bat slam, exchange with umpire

David Peralta had a frustrating day at the plate Saturday against the San Francisco Giants, finishing 0-for-4 with a strikeout.

It got more frustrating for the Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder, who struck out in the fifth to cap an 0-for-3 day. He slammed his bat after three quick strikes, which home plate umpire Ron Kulpa took exception to.

After getting a couple words from Kulpa, Peralta turned back around and pointed at him on his way to the dugout. He was quickly tossed.

It seemed that Peralta was ticked off about the strike two call, which was well out of the zone.

D-backs manager Torey Lovullo went on the field to get an explanation for his player’s ejection, but kept his cool and remained in the game.

Gregor Blanco replaced Peralta in the field.

It was his first career ejection.
