The Kane County Cougars’ Connor Grey threw a perfect game Friday night, the first perfect game ever thrown by an Arizona Diamondbacks minor league pitcher.

The D-backs’ Single-A affiliate, located in Geneva, Ill., saw Grey throw a nine-inning perfect game with eight strikeouts on the road in Iowa against the Clinton Lumber Kings.

The perfect outing for Grey was the first perfect game thrown in the Midwest League in over 13 years and the first in the Cougars’ history as well.

The 23-year-old right-hander was a draft selection by the D-backs in the 20th round of the 2016 first-year player draft out of St. Bonaventure University.

Grey has made 17 appearances in the minor leagues this season, 16 of them starts, posting a record of 8-4 with a 3.15 ERA.
