The Arizona Cardinals signed veteran Andy Lee and released fellow punter Matt Wile on Monday, the team announced.

The team placed rookie running back T.J. Logan on injured reserve, opening another roster spot, and added outside linebackers Bryson Albright and Obum Gwachum to the practice squad.

The Cardinals had punters Richie Leone and Wile both fail to separate from one another and win the punting job in the preseason. Wile was the punter to make the roster Saturday.

Mike Jurecki of 98.7 FM, Arizona’s Sports Station reported earlier in the week that the Cardinals had interest in Lee.

Lee was a two-time Pro Bowler with the San Francisco 49ers, where he spent 11 years.  He led the league in yards per punt in 2011, averaging 50.9 yards per punt — the third highest single-season mark in NFL history.

He was released by the Carolina Panthers Saturday.

From 2013 to 2015, Lee was a teammate of current Cardinals kicker Phil Dawson.

In June of 2015, Lee was traded to the Cleveland Browns from San Francisco for a seventh-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Over a year later in August of 2016, he was traded to Carolina with a 2017 seventh-round pick for a 2018 fourth-round pick and punter Kasey Redfern, who was later released. Lee went on injured reserve after in November after tearing his hamstring.

Logan broke his wrist in the team’s first preseason game and could be out at least two more months.

Albright, an undrafted rookie who played at Miami (Ohio), is in his second season and spent time on the Bills last year. He was with the Bengals during the preseason.

Gwachum, who played college football at Oregon State, appeared in 10 games with the Saints over the last two years and recorded 2.5 sacks and four tackles. He was a sixth-round pick by the Seahawks in 2015.
