Baseball America has started releasing its Classification All-Star Teams, and plenty of Arizona Diamondbacks prospects were included at the different levels of minor league baseball.

Here is a rundown of the D-backs prospects that made the different teams in their respective leagues, according to national writer Kyle Glasner.

Triple-A

Jimmie Sherfy, RP: The 25-year-old Sherfy had an outstanding 2017 season with the D-backs’ Triple-A affiliate, the Reno Aces. The right hander went 2-1 with a 3.12 ERA in 44 games. The 6-foot, 175-pound Sherfy saved 20 games for the Aces and struck out 61 batters in 49 innings.

After a great season at the highest level of the minors, it should not surprise anyone that Sherfy was called up by the D-backs. Sherfy has yet to allow a run in six games at the big league level.

Double-A

Kevin Cron, 1B: Cron crushed Southern League pitching in 2017 and was named the league’s MVP as a result. The 24-year-old brother of Anaheim Angels first baseman C.J. Cron hit .283 with 25 home runs and and 35 doubles in 138 games played for the D-backs’ Double-A affiliate, the Jackson Generals.

High Class A

Jose Almonte, P: The D-backs’ High Class A affiliate, the Visalia Rawhide, had the lowest ERA in the California League this season and Jose Almonte was a big reason why. The 21-year-old right hander went 11-8 with a 3.55 ERA in 27 starts this season. The Dominican Republic native struck out 162 and walked 66 in 139 innings pitched and opposing batters hit .243 off him.

Low Class A

Tommy Eveld, RP: The 23-year-old Eveld dazzled in 2017. He posted a sparkling 0.33 ERA in 22 games and saved 14 games for the D-backs’ Low Class A affiliate, the Kane County Cougars. Field pitched in the Midwest League and struck out 33 batters in 28 innings pitched. The Coral Springs, Fla. native held opposing batters to a .111 average in 2017.

Short-Season

Daulton Varsho, C: The 20-year-old backstop put himself on the map with an impressive 2017 campaign. In 50 games played, the left handed batter hit .311 with a .368 on-base percentage, 16 doubles and seven home runs in 193 at-bats.

Varsho earned Northwest League Player of the Week Honors for the period of Aug. 21-27. In that week, he collected eight extra base hits.

Pavin Smith, 1B: The D-backs’ 2017 first-round pick and current top prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, showed everybody why he was drafted so high. The 20-year-old hit .318 with a .401 on-base percentage in 51 games and collected 15 doubles and two triples. Smith actually walked (27) more than he struck out (24).

At one point this season, Smith collected five hits in a single game.
