The Arizona Cardinals announced Friday that they have signed veteran tight end Jim Dray as they fill a void left by injuries.

Jermaine Gresham has not participated in practice this week after taking a shot to the ribs in the Cardinals’ Week 1 loss against the Detroit Lions, while fellow tight end Troy Niklas appeared on the injury report as a limited participant Thursday with a hip injury.

Arizona also has 6-foot-5, 243-pound rookie Ricky Seals-Jones on the practice squad, but he is inexperienced at the position having played receiver at Texas A&M.

The 30-year-old Dray played for the Cardinals from 2010-13 before spending 2014-15 with the Cleveland Browns. He was on the rosters for the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers last season.

With 56 receptions and 605 yards with three touchdowns in his career, Dray’s best season with Arizona came in his last. He caught 26 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns in 2013.

Dray was the Cardinals’ seventh-round pick (233rd overall) in 2010 out of Stanford.
