NFL Preview – Arizona (1-1) at Seattle (0-2)

After a tough start to this 2011 campaign, Carroll could have one of his biggest offseason additions in the mix for the first time if Sidney Rice can get on the field for the Seahawks’ home opener against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday at CenturyLink Field.

Seahawks’ Brandon Browner will stand tall to Cardinals

One reason Seattle coach Pete Carroll signed the 6-foot-4, 222-pound Browner out of the CFL was he believed his length and size would matchup well against Larry Fitzgerald, the talented, 6-3, 218-pound Arizona receiver.

The Arizona Cardinals could be just what the struggling Seattle Seahawks offense needs

The Arizona Cardinals could be just what the struggling Seattle Seahawks offense needs.

Blaming Tarvaris Jackson for losses is amateurish

Jeff Foxworthy might put it this way: If you saw both Seahawks games this year and blame Tarvaris Jackson for the 0-2 start, you might be an amateur. If you read these statistics of Jackson’s first two games and think he should be replaced with backup quarterback Charlie Whitehurst, you might be an amateur.

Seahawks notes: Pete Carroll says Tarvaris Jackson isn’t missing open receivers

The most notable error Seahawks coach Pete Carroll found when reviewing film of Tarvaris Jackson’s performance in Sunday’s loss to the Steelers actually came on the team’s longest play from scrimmage.

Carroll’s tinkering has Seahawks struggling

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said after Sunday’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers that he expected his offense to struggle early on.

Robert Gallery out a month to six weeks with groin injury

If a shutout loss in Pittsburgh wasn’t bad enough, the Seahawks got some bad injury news the day after the game. Left guard Robert Gallery, who missed the season opener with a knee injury, then returned to play against the Steelers, will be out for a month or more with a groin injury that will require surgery.

Seahawks’ offense must struggle before it grows

The Seahawks’ offense was blanked Sunday against the Steelers 24-0. The team punted eight out of 10 offensive possessions and didn’t run a play on the Steelers’ side of the field until 9:39 in the fourth quarter. The struggles on offense are probably due to the teams youth, something a Cardinals defense could benefit from.

Headcoach Carroll hopes wide out Sidney Rice will play against Cardinals

The young offense may get a boost if wide receiver Sidney Rice can play, but it was reported by Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer that Rice has a torn labrum the same injury that claimed Seahawks TE Jon Carlson for the season. However, Carroll still has confidence that Rice will be available for the teams home opener.

6-foot-4 rookie cornerback Brandon Browner a weak spot

Steelers’ wideout Mike Wallace torched the Seahawks’ secondary for 126 yards most of which came when he was lined up against rookie Brandon Browner. The Steelers continued to target the four year CFL veteran as he continued to struggle with the speed of their wide receivers.

What to take away from the 24-0 loss to the Steelers

Among the many problems the Seahawks already have more came to light Sunday. Some of the problems include defense isn’t as good as first thought, protection isn’t the offense’s only problem and the lack of Seattle’s pass rush. One of the offense’s problems has been the inability to run the ball, but that could change against the Cardinals 29th overall total defense.
