Phoenix Suns rookie small forward Josh Jackson has been fined $35,000 by the NBA for what the league called “a menacing gesture” and foul language toward a fan.

The incident took place when he fouled of a game on Saturday against the Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center. The Suns lost the game 130-88.

Jackson said it was a particular fan who was talking to the players the entire game and called him a few names as he walked to the bench.

“I kinda wanted to put up the middle finger to ’em,” Jackson said Monday, saying he didn’t regret doing it. “I really wanted to do that but I didn’t do that because I felt like I was actually really being watched so I kinda halfway did it. At this point, it doesn’t matter what I did or didn’t do anymore. It’s over with. I’m over it.”

Jackson scored 12 points and had four steals in 29 minutes.
