With the playoffs out of reach, the Cardinals’ chance to end the playoff hopes for Seattle is extra motivation for the players and head coach Bruce Arians.

“We’ve got a big one next week, we know that’s our home field,” Arians said Sunday of Seattle’s CenturyLink Field. “We’re going up there and kicking their (expletive).”

Seattle’s home stadium has been named as one of the toughest stadiums to play in the NFL.

However, the Cardinals have found their fair share of success in Seattle, winning the past three out of four meetings at CenturyLink Field.

Still, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll laughed off Bruce Arians’ comments about it being the Cardinals’ home turf.

“Bruce gets to say whatever he wants, man,” Carroll told MyNorthwest.com. ” “I don’t care, bring it on. We’ll go play some football Sunday and figure it out.”

Carroll added that the comments made by Arians may motivate his team, saying they “might have a little fun with that.”

The Seahawks playoff chances rely on their ability to beat the Cardinals and an Atlanta Falcons’ loss or tie against the Carolina Panthers. For the Cardinals, a win in Sunday’s game gives them the chance to play spoiler and finish 8-8 in a season riddled with injuries.

Arians has confidence in his team and in quarterback Drew Stanton, who will make his second straight start since taking over for Blaine Gabbert after Week 15.

Though, Arians admits he wishes he had quarterback who orchestrated the Cardinals three previous wins in Seattle, Carson Palmer.

“There is just something about Carson up there and the way he throws the deep ball,” Arians told 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s Craig Grialou & Mike Jurecki on Tuesday. “We’ll be fine, I think Drew is going to be healthier. We were real close a couple years ago up there with Drew, we dropped a touchdown right in our hands at halftime.”

Still, he expects his team to be ready for what is sure to be another physical matchup in this bitter rivalry.

“It’s Seattle,” Arians said. “We’ve had some success up there and every time we play them it’s a knock down, drag out (game).”
