Hill discusses Suns playoff hopes

PHOENIX- Phoenix Suns guard Grant Hill discussed the team’s hopes for reaching the postseason Friday. Despite having dropped to the No. 11 in the Western Conference following a three-game losing streak, Hill is still optimistic.

“I think when you are in the midst of a season and in the midst of a tough season, a season where we haven’t played where we thought we would have played at this point, you can lose some perspective,” Hill said.

“In terms of where we are, I don’t know. I know we are here in Phoenix and we got the Celtics tonight, that’s sort of where my head is at and where my focus is at.”

The 20-and-24 Suns host the Eastern Conference leading Boston Celtics Friday night. They will have to snap their losing streak to remain in the chase with both Houston and Memphis for the eighth and final playoff spot.

There is hope. The Suns have won two straight games against the Celtics, which ties them with the Rockets and Hornets for the longest active win streak by an opponent over Boston.

The Portland Trailblazers are in the 8th seed currently and have a three-and-a-half game cushion over the Suns.
The 38-year-old Hill, who is averaging 14.5 points per game and 4.9 rebounds in 2010, said he remains hopeful.

“We’re still in the hunt. I look up there (at the standings) and we can still control our own destiny,” he said . “We’ve got to put up or shut up and tonight would be a great win for us.”
