Inside the Box: Suns claw back, have questionable last possession

Apr 6, 2011, 2:10 PM | Updated: 2:31 pm

After every Phoenix Suns game we’ll examine the box score and provide you with instant analysis. So it’s time to go Inside the Box for April 5, 2011: Bulls 97, Suns 94

The Phoenix Suns found themselves down 13 at the half and at one point 22 before coming all the way back to down just two late in the fourth quarter. After a made free throw by Kyle Korver the Bulls were up three with 13 seconds to play. The Suns didn’t get a shot off until there were two seconds left on the clock and it was a meaningless two-point attempt. Not sure on the thought process during that possession.

The Good:

Balance was there in Chicago for the Suns. Five guys scored in double figures led by Vince Carter’s 23. Steve Nash scored only six points but he handed out 16 assists.

The Bad:

In the second quarter the Bulls outscored the Suns 28-16. The Suns made eight shots — all two-pointers — while the Bulls hit nine shots — three of them being three-pointers — and also adding seven free throws to the Suns’ zero.

There is your 12 point difference.

Oh, and the aforementioned last possession blunder. That was really bad.

The Funky:

Robin Lopez’s stat line reads three minutes played, four fouls committed, zero rebounds and points. Funky and bad.
