The Arizona Diamondbacks have enjoyed a midseason resurgence from their star first baseman, Paul Goldschmidt.

The “comeback” of sorts by the long-slumping former All-Star was a welcome one for the D-backs, and now Goldschmidt is being rewarded for it. He was named the National League’s Player of the Week on Monday.

Goldschmidt entered the week hitting just .208 on the season with eight home runs and 20 RBI and an OPS of .721. But last week, the two-time runner-up for NL MVP went 16-for-25 (.640) with four home runs, 11 RBI, six doubles, a triple, three walks and a 2.130 OPS. He had a particularly big weekend in Colorado, hitting four home runs in two days on Friday and Saturday and becoming the first player in D-backs history to record four straight games with three or more hits.

Over the span of the week, Goldschmidt ranked first in the NL in hits, extra-base hits, runs scored, RBI, total bases, batting average and slugging percentage.

He is the third Diamondbacks player to win the honor this season, joining A.J. Pollock and Patrick Corbin.
