Nash offered three-year deal by Toronto

Jul 1, 2012, 7:21 PM | Updated: 11:19 pm

The Toronto Raptors have offered Steve Nash a three-year $36
million deal, according to an ESPN report.

Nash has a strong relationship with Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo,
who helped
recruit Nash to the Suns when he was a FA and left Dallas in 2004.

Nash, who is an incredibly popular player in Canada could find the
young team of Andrea Bargnani, DeMar DeRozan and Terrence Ross
tempting enough to accept the Raptors deal.

The Raptors are also the only team left in Canada, Nash’s native
home.

The Raptors have been one of the front runners in the race for Nash,
as
they have reportedly been willing to offer Nash a position with the
team
even after his playing career is over, according to AOL Sporting News.

ESPN reports also have Nash meeting with the Nets on Sunday.

Few teams would be willing to offer Nash the deal the Raptors are,
but
the upside to moving to a team like Miami, New Jersey or Dallas who
would offer
less, would be the
more
immediate opportunity to win a championship, which Nash has admitted would not be as
apparent in Toronto.
