The Arizona Diamondbacks have begun taking applications for this year’s $100,000 School Challenge, which aims to raise grant money for K-12 public, private and non-profit charter schools in the state.

In the past, the fundraising campaign by the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation has helped raise money with grants of up to $5,000 that have gone to everything from showers for homeless students, to a 3D printer, to a computer programming buddy system.

Combined with the University of Phoenix, the D-backs’ foundation provides $100,000 toward the program.

Teachers and administrators are asked to pitch why they should receive funding and can make formal applications at dbacks.com/schoolchallenge by a Sept. 28 deadline.

The program began in 2012 and has received 3,500 applications. The D-backs have raised $850,000 in six years and helped 180 schools over that span.
