Suns guard Tyler Johnson has reportedly exercised his $19.25 million player option for the upcoming season, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Johnson played in just 13 games with Phoenix last year after the team acquired the guard in a midseason trade with the Miami Heat.

Starting in 12 of those games, Johnson averaged 11.1 points, 4.2 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 31.2 minutes per game.

The undrafted 26-year-old entering his fifth year out of Fresno State was one of numerous players thrown into the mix at point guard as the Suns worked to find a solution at the position.

The guard dealt with a right knee injury towards the end of the season, with his last appearance being March 13 in a loss to the Jazz, missing the last 13 games of the season.

New head coach Monty Williams has gone on record saying the guard provides an upside to the team.

“I’m really excited about Tyler,” Williams said June 6 on Johnson. “I think Tyler’s a guy who has been in a winning program and he brings intangibles to the team that really excite me.”
