Pending a physical, former D-backs pitcher Greg Holland has agreed to a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals.

The two were coming closer to a deal and made it all but official Monday, according to MLB.com writer Jamal Collier.

Holland previously played for Washington in 2018 when the club picked him up following his release from St. Louis. During the 2018 season, he appeared in 24 games for the Nationals.

Through 21.2 innings that season, Holland struck out 25, allowed nine hits, two runs and one home run.

The D-backs previously obtained Holland in the offseason when they signed him to a one-year deal for $3.5 million.

During his time in a D-backs uniform, Holland pitched 35.2 innings in 40 games, compiled a 4.54 ERA and tallied 17 saves.

Through his first three months with the team, he had just two blown saves. He blew three saves in eight games in the month of July.

In his final four appearances for Arizona, Holland allowed seven runs in 2 2/3 innings with four walks.

The D-backs designated Holland for assignment Aug. 7. The move came days after the club designated pitcher Zach Godley for assignment as well.
