There will be no more minor league games for Luke Weaver.

But, the Arizona Diamondbacks are still unsure of where and when the right-handed pitcher will return.

“We want to be mindful of jamming him into a game or situation that is extremely meaningful, and he might not have his best stuff,” manager Torey Lovullo said before Sunday’s game. “He’s still in the middle of his rehab process, so we want to be fair to him.”

Weaver recently pitched two scoreless innings Friday in Single-A Visalia. He allowed one hit and had one strikeout, Lovullo said.

“We want to make sure that we continue to move forward with him,” the manager added.

Weaver was placed on the 10-day IL in May after he was diagnosed with mild sprains to his flexor pronator and UCL in his right arm. He last pitched May 26.

Lovullo also said they’re beginning to ramp right-handed pitcher Taijuan Walker up who is working his way back from Tommy John surgery in April 2018. He said in the coming days, Walker is expected to throw a bullpen session.

“I think the bullpen turns into a simulated game,” Lovullo said. “We’re still a couple of workouts away from determining if that’s going to happen or not.”
