The time for Phoenix Suns fans to get a first look at the 2019-20 squad is quickly approaching.
Sept. 30 is media day, where the Suns will all speak and make appearances for the first time in the unofficial start to the season.
From Oct.1-4, the Suns will be in action at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff for training camp.
On Oct. 6, they will return to Talking Stick Resort Arena for an open practice at 1 pm. The event will be free for fans to attend. More details are coming, per a release.
Two days later, on Oct. 8, Phoenix begins preseason play at home against Minnesota. The regular season tips off on Oct. 23 against Sacramento.
At camp, Phoenix has a lot to sort out.
At NAU, new head coach Monty Williams and staff will have to evaluate how the new veterans, highlighted by point guard Ricky Rubio, will mesh with three rookies and the retuning core.
Only six of Phoenix’s 15 active players were on the team last year, and just two of them suited up for the last game of the season.
Devin Booker, DeAndre Ayton, Mikal Bridges and Kelly Oubre Jr. established a promising base last year.
Now, they will get to run with an NBA-established point guard and more depth than Phoenix has had in recent seasons. How rookie sharpshooters Cameron Johnson and Ty Jerome fit into the mix will be something to watch for in camp, but every team needs more shooting and they add a lot of that.
