Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Luke Weaver will be on the bump for Saturday’s game against the Padres in San Diego, according to MLB.com’s Steve Gilbert.

Weaver, 26, will be starting in place of Zac Gallen, who was scheduled to start game two of the three-game set.

The right-hander hasn’t pitched for the D-backs since May 26 after suffering mild sprains to the flexor pronator and UCL in his throwing arm that caused him to be placed on the 60-day injured list.

Before the game on Saturday, the D-backs officially reinstated Weaver to the 40-man roster in a move that brought the active roster to 35 players.

Weaver threw two scoreless innings in his last outing on Sept. 13 in a rehab game in Single-A Visalia.

The 26-year-old also threw a 28-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday.

In 11 starts for the D-backs this season, Weaver is 4-3 with a 3.03 ERA, 68 strikeouts, 14 walks, a 1.11 WHIP and 9.8 strikeouts per nine innings pitched in 62.1 innings of work.

Saturday’s contest is slated for 5:40 p.m. He is expected to throw somewhere around 30 pitches in the outing.
