The Arizona Diamondbacks are taking a look at veteran second baseman Brian Dozier, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.

Dozier is an eight-year veteran, playing the better part of seven seasons with the Minnesota Twins before winning the World Series last year with the Washington Nationals. He also had a 47-game stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2018.

A career .245 hitter with 192 home runs, 561 RBIs and 1,053 hits, Dozier could be inserted into the starting lineup, or used as a pinch hitter or depth player off the bench.

His best seasons came in 2016 and 2017 in Minnesota. In 2016, Dozier set career highs in home runs (42) and RBIs (99) and in 2017 he set career highs in batting average (.271) and OBP (.359).

Last season with the Nationals, Dozier played in 135 games recording 99 hits, 20 home runs and 50 RBIs while slashing .238/.326/.442.

The addition of Dozier could permanently move Ketel Marte to center field. In 2019, Marte started 89 games in center field and 45 games at second base.
