After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and provide you with instant analysis. So it’s
time to go Inside the Box for May 24, 2011: Rockies 12, Diamondbacks 4

The Arizona Diamondbacks saw their six-game winning streak come to a screeching halt in the team’s 12-4 loss to the Colorado Rockies in Game one of a doubleheader on Tuesday.

Starter Josh Collmenter had his first bad start as a pro as he couldn’t get out of the fifth inning and gave up five runs.

The defense didn’t do him any favors committing two errors in the field.

Reliever Aaron Heilman continued his struggles giving up five earned runs in the seventh inning. He has yet to put it together since coming off the Disabled List.

Juan Gutierrez also struggled giving up two runs without being able to get anybody out ballooning his ERA to 5.40 in the process.

Former Diamondback prospect Carlos Gonzalez burned his former organization hitting two home runs for four RBI’s.

It looked like early on the D-backs were headed for victory as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning and Colorado starter Jorge De La Rosa had to leave the game in that inning as well with an injury.

However, reliever Greg Reynolds came in and pitched 3 & 2/3 innings only giving up one run allowing the Rockies offense an opportunity to figure out Collmenter.

Offensively for the D-backs, Ryan Roberts, Melvin Mora and Justin Upton each had two hits.

Arizona used up five relievers in this game, so they will be counting on starter Joe Saunders to go deep in the second game of the doubleheader with possibly only David Hernandez and J.J. Putz being available in relief.
