Upton focused on World Series, not Home Run Derby

Arizona sports fans may be upset Diamondbacks outfielder Justin Upton was not selected to participate in the Home Run Derby, but the 23-year-old right fielder has bigger goals.

Growing up I never dreamed of winning the Home Run Derby, but I did dream of winning a World Series and that is where my focus is.less than a minute ago via TweetDeck Favorite Retweet Reply

While there is nothing that says Upton couldn’t win both the Derby and a World Series, the tweet shows his focus is in the right place.

Upton, who is batting .299 with 14 home runs and 44 RBI, has been a huge contributor to the Diamondbacks, who are only a game out of first place.

Internally, Upton may be disappointed that he does not get to hit home runs in front of the home-town fans, but the fact that he is taking the high road and looking ahead to the second half of the season, the postseason and even the World Series is a positive sign for Arizona.
