D-backs, Gibson excited to be where they’re at

The Arizona Diamondbacks trail the Milwaukee Brewers 2-1,
and manager Kirk Gibson said the team is excited to be
exactly where they are at.

“Everybody felt like we were out of it, like I wasn’t sure
why we were playing [Tuesday],” Gibson told Arizona Sports
620’s Burns and Gambo. “But we don’t look at it that way.”

No, Gibson said the team looks at their series deficit as
something they just have to deal with.

“It’s best three out of five, so sometimes it’s more
comfortable, sometimes it’s less comfortable, but we’re
still alive and there are a lot of teams at home,” he
said. “Regardless of what’s gone on to this point we have
to cherish and take our opportunities [Wednesday night],
play well, execute on both sides of the ball and then get
it back to Milwaukee.”

Gibson and the team are taking the right approach. No one
expected them to make it this far, but since they’re in
the playoffs they might as well win a few games.

And while dropping the first two games of the series was
not ideal, all we really saw was the Brewers hold serve.
If the D-backs take care of business at home they will get
the series back to Milwaukee for a decisive Game 5, one
that would be pitched by ace Ian Kennedy.
