Miley struggles in last start before All-Star break

Jul 6, 2012, 4:57 AM | Updated: 6:13 am

The only All-Star on the Arizona Diamondbacks roster is
0-
2 with a 10.45 ERA in his last two starts on the mound.

“I gave up a couple homers, tried to go in and left them
over the plate,” Miley said after Thursday’s 4-1 loss to
the Dodgers. “I just didn’t do my job tonight.”

Miley threw 6.2 innings, giving up eight hits and four
runs with four strikeouts on the way to his second
straight loss.

“I felt fine, whether you’re throwing 88 or 94 doesn’t
matter,” Miley said. “If the ball is belt high middle of
the plate, it’s going to get hit.”

Miley allowed two runs on four hits in the first inning
with one out, but was able to get out of the inning
without any more damage.

“He struggled,” Manager Kirk Gibson said. “He wasn’t able
to hit his locations. He actually did a good job of
getting out of it with just two runs.”

The Dodgers last two runs came from solo homers in the
fourth and seventh innings.

Miley falls to 9-5 in his last outing before the All-Star
break, and will represent the Diamondbacks after starting
the season in the
bullpen.
