Yankees inquire about Justin Upton

The New York Yankees are one of four
teams
on Justin Upton’s no-trade list.
Yet, that has not stopped them from asking about the D-backs
right fielder.
According to Jon
Heyman of CBSSports.com, the Bronx Bombers are looking
for
an outfielder, and thus have inquired about the 24-year-old.
They’ve talked to the Phillies about Shane Victorino and
the
Diamondbacks about Justin Upton, but Upton is a major long
shot for them and right now they see the price tag as too
high
on either. Victorino may be slightly more realistic
eventually, though.
That the price is too high is interesting, because the
Yankees
have been known to trade prospects if it means getting an
established star. And while Upton is not playing like a
star,
many believe he will have an excellent career.
As for Upton’s including of the Yankees on the no-trade
list,
many believe that has more to do with contract leverage
than
actually not wanting to play in New York.
