The Arizona Diamondbacks led off MiLB.com’s 2021 Organization All-Star series, which recognizes who had the best seasons in every farm system.

Outfielder Alek Thomas headlines Arizona’s team, which is made up of the following players:

  • C – Jamie Ritchie, 28
  • 1B – Seth Beer, 25
  • 2B – Ronny Simon, 21
  •  3B – Buddy Kennedy, 23
  • SS – Geraldo Perdomo, 22
  • OF – Alek Thomas, 21
  • OF – Stone Garrett, 25
  • OF – Dominic Canzone, 24
  • RHP – Ryne Nelson, 23
  • LHP – Blake Walston, 20
  • RP – Mitchell Stumpo, 25

Thomas is Arizona’s third-ranked prospect by MLB Pipeline, just behind 2019 first-round pick and outfielder Corbin Carroll and 2021 first-rounder shortstop Jordan Lawlar.

The 21-year-old Thomas excelled after a late-season promotion to Triple-A Reno.

Thomas hit .369 with a .658 slugging percentage in 34 games with the Aces.

Walston and Nelson are the next-highest ranked D-backs prospects by MLB Pipeline at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. They were both drafted in 2019.

Walston had a 3.76 ERA in 19 starts for two teams in Single-A. Nelson started 14 games for Double-A Amarillo and had 104 strikeouts in 77 innings. His ERA for the Sod Poodles was 3.51.

Beer and Perdomo are the only two players on the list who played for the big league club in 2021.

Perdomo was called up in early April after D-backs shortstop Nick Ahmed went on the 10-day injured list.

At the time of his call-up, Perdomo was just 21 and had not played above Single-A yet.

He went 1-for-10 and committed an error before getting optioned back down. After spending most of the season in Double-A and a short stint in Triple-A, Perdomo was called back up and hit .333 in 21 at-bats with Arizona at the end of the year.

Beer played five games for the D-backs before injuring his shoulder on Sept. 14. He hit .287 with 16 home runs for Reno prior to his promotion.

Kennedy, Canzone and Stumpo are currently playing in the Arizona Fall League for the Salt River Rafters.
