The Arizona Cardinals opened the 21-day practice window for second-year safety Kitan Crawford on Wednesday.

Additionally, Arizona promoted tight end Shawn Bowman to the 53-man roster and made a series of practice squad moves:

  • Signed running back Jerome Ford, wide receiver Shedrick Jackson and linebacker Riley Wilson to the practice squad
  • Cut defensive lineman Jay Toia and linebacker Eugene Asante from the practice squad

Crawford suffered a sprained ankle in Arizona’s season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers, a game in which he recorded three total tackles while spending time on defense and special teams.

He played 15 games as a rookie last year after the Cardinals drafted him in the seventh round out of Nevada.

Arizona’s safeties have been banged up this season, as Andrew Wingard missed last week’s game against the Detroit Lions with a knee injury, while Rabbit Taylor-Demerson returned after missing two games due to back and ribs injuries.

Bowman is a 6-foot-4 tight end who has yet to make his NFL debut.

Ford has played 57 regular season games over the past four seasons with the Cleveland Browns. He gained 813 rushing yards and 1,132 scrimmage yards in 2023. Last year, he only carried the ball 24 times for 73 yards.

He joins Evan Hull as running backs on the practice squad with three on the active roster: Jeremiyah Love, Bam Knight and Tyler Allgeier.
