GLENDALE — Trey McBride continues to find himself in rare air as one of the best tight ends in the NFL.
And on National Tight Ends Day, no less.
With his 400th career reception during the Arizona Cardinals’ game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, McBride (73 games) surpassed Travis Kelce (78) as the second-fastest tight end to reach 400 catches.
Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow Sr. holds the top spot as the fastest to reach the milestone at 72 games. So close.
But wait! There’s more!
With McBride’s 10 catches on Sunday, he also became the fifth player in NFL history with at least seven receptions in nine straight games.
It’s been another strong season for McBride, who had already surpassed Jimmy Graham for the most receptions by a tight end in his first five seasons earlier this year.
Entering play Sunday, McBride paced the league in catches with 49 to go along with 361 yards and three touchdowns.
He’s far and away Arizona’s top offensive weapon.
And just for good measure, McBride added a hurdle during Sunday’s affair on top of his 10 catches for 111 yards and a touchdown.
Despite McBride’s big day, the Cardinals fell 30-16 to the Broncos to halt the momentum gained from last week’s upset win over the Los Angeles Rams.
A National Tight Ends Day hurdle from Trey McBride!

Pathetic... 6 tries from the one-yard line and couldn't gain an inch.
Oh well, I had Denver in my pool!
